Dwellworks 2023 ESG Impact Report: Values-Focused Priorities

Written by Maura Carey, ESG Lead | Apr 22, 2024 12:43:31 PM

Dwellworks delivers exceptional service to the globally mobile workforce and is also committed to making a positive impact on our business goals, our planet, and our communities. ESG is a structure for stakeholders to understand a business through non-financial measures. In Dwellworks’ approach to ESG, we’re focused on stakeholder requirements and how we align them with our core values, which have always included respect and inclusion, business sustainability, and good governance.

Our stakeholders include clients, customers, employees, suppliers, service partners, and investors, as well as government regulators and the local communities where we work and live. They expect demonstrated progress on issues impacting people and the planet, just as they are right to expect us to be a well-run operation that invests intelligently, pushes for innovation, demonstrates growth and profitability, and leads by example.

We detail all of this in our yearly ESG report - available now and easily downloadable at the button below. This blog shares the report’s highlights and demonstrates how we are making progress towards our strategic goals in the areas of environment, social, and governance. We thank all our clients, customers, service partners, industry allies, and especially our extraordinary team for joining us on this journey and helping us make a difference.

Environment

Our strategic goal in Environment is to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). (Scope 1 and Scope 2 refer to our internal operations and Scope 3 refers to emissions from our supply chain.)

In 2023 we made solid progress towards our goal by implementing various initiatives to reduce our internal energy consumption and guide lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our partners.

  • Since 2021, we have reduced our office footprint by 47%, resulting in an estimated 62% reduction in Scope 2 GHG emissions.
  • We partnered with the Coalition for Greener Mobility, a joint initiative of six global mobility industry associations, to develop and promote sustainability standards and best practices for the destination services and corporate housing sectors.
  • We expanded our GHG emissions reporting to our non-US operations and our supply chain, and we achieved an EcoVadis Bronze ranking for our sustainability program.
  • 97% of the corporate housing suppliers we surveyed confirmed they were taking steps to reduce their environmental impact and increase their social responsibility.
  • We are in the early stages of leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and operational excellence to simplify and streamline our service delivery, enhancing our customers’ experience and reducing our carbon impact by operating more efficiently.

Social

Our strategic Social goal is to be recognized as an employer and partner of choice for our social responsibility leadership. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and belonging (DEIB) culture, where our associates and suppliers can thrive. We are also committed to supporting the causes that matter to our team and the communities where we operate.

  • We updated the messaging on dwellworks.com to reflect our interest in reaching a broader recruitment population. We are also a committed supporter of Upward Mobility, a diversity internship initiative for our industry.
  • We updated our corporate housing website, dwellworksliving.com, in compliance with the latest WCAG standards.
  • We expanded cross-cultural training and content for our associates and consultants, to enhance their cultural awareness and sensitivity and improve our service quality scores.
  • We launched several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to connect our associates around their shared interests and to promote their well-being and engagement.
  • We support our employee-led engagement with over 20 community organizations worldwide and fund a half-day paid time off for every associate’s volunteer efforts.

Governance

Our strategic Governance goal is to grow our business through a best-in-class reputation for governance and compliance. We adhere to and reinforce the highest standards of ethical conduct, risk management, and business controls, and we align our ESG program with the expectations and requirements of our stakeholders and regulators.

  • We completed our annual ethics, compliance, and ESG training for all associates, and we successfully passed our SOC 2 audit.
  • We updated our UN Global Compact Communication on Progress (CoP), demonstrating our support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact principles.
  • We reviewed the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and prepared for potential compliance actions.
  • We began the process of conducting an updated Materiality Assessment in 2024, to align our stakeholders’ ESG priorities with what is most relevant and impactful for our business.

We hope this blog has given you a glimpse of our ESG program and our achievements in 2023. We are excited to continue our ESG journey in 2024 and beyond.
