London Docklands, on the River Thames, is one of London’s most historic and character-filled areas. Entertainment
Wapping is steeped in history. In fact, you can still enjoy a pint in one of London’s oldest pubs here, The Prospect of Whitby, dating back to 1543. At the heart of London’s industrial heritage, the regeneration of this area has been largely completed. It is a study of contrasts – The iconic Tower of London is set against the striking modern skyline of Canary Wharf, the “Gherkin” and the Shard.
For nightlife, there is no shortage of sophisticated and fashionable pubs, bars and restaurants, including Conran’s, Le Pont de la Tour, The Chop House and Gordon Ramsay’s gastropub ‘The Narrow’.
Transportation
Wapping is ideally situated for the City, and Canary Wharf is within walking or cycling distance. The Jubilee line at Canary Wharf runs between Stratford, Bond Street and the West End. The Circle and District lines are easily accessible at Tower Hill, while the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) provides services from Tower Gateway to Bank in just 6 minutes.
Overground services from Wapping run south to Croydon and Crystal Palace; north to Islington; and east to Watford. City Airport is 25 minutes away.
